What makes this program unique? The CIA is a trully Western self-preservation program, that is driven from a Western Boxing platform.
Not only do we coach people how to effectively defend themselves, but we also teach them how to develop the psychological and emotional game for that event. In addition rather than an incessant focus on reality based self defense rhetoric and paranoia, self-preservation training at the CMD is focused on a positive expression of self-preservation coaching that honors truth as much as wisdom.
At the CMD we believe there is a huge difference between developing Self-Preservation confidence and Self-Defense Paranoia. The later is used by many of the ‘reality’ based schools of martial arts as a way to use people’s fear of attack to get them to buy into their programs. While knowing how to defend yourself is paramount these days, using self-defense training as a way to become more confident in your life, is far healthier than walking around the streets thinking that everyone is out to get you.
The CMD’s CIA Program draws upon Combat Psychology, Intelligent training methodology and an Athletic approach to self-preservation training. We also draw from the philosophy of the Warrior traditions. You have to think like a Warrior to survive a self-preservation incident. While all Warriors in history trained to be the best they could be on the battlefield, as Edward Tick, PhD in his book, War and the Soul, points out there is far more to becoming a Warrior than mere physical skill,
"Becoming a warrior is an achievement of character…what are the characteristics of the Warrior? The ideal Warrior is assertive, active and energized. He or she is clear-minded, strategic, and alert. A warrior uses both body and mind in harmony and cooperation. A warrior is disciplined. A warrior assesses both his own skills and resources and those of his opponent. A warrior is a servant of civilization and its future - guiding, protecting, and passing on information and wisdom. A warrior is devoted to causes he judges to be more important than himself or any personal relationships or gain. Having confronted death, a warrior knows how precious life is and does not abuse or profane it."
As you can see, the CIA Program is about training the true Warrior- not people who are made to be hyper-aggressive and will fly off the handle at the slightest provocation. Warriors should always be assets to the society they live in!
